Presented by security consulting and research firm, Independent Security Evaluators, IoT Village has established a worldwide reputation at the largest gathering for hackers. In only five years, IoT Village has showcased over 50 speakers who have exposed more than 300 vulnerabilities with connected devices, garnering worldwide recognition for many of these findings.
“IoT Village is a movement, driven by a passionate community of security researchers, pioneering companies, and many of the foremost thought leaders in IoT security,” says Ted Harrington, Executive Partner at Independent Security Evaluators. “As a place for both learning and teaching, IoT Village is a must-visit experience at DEF CON, the cybersecurity industry’s leading research conference.”
IoT Village serves as a high-profile platform for the hacking community to inform manufacturers and alert consumers about vulnerabilities found in many of the connected devices that are now fixtures of everyday life. It features talks and workshops by hackers and researchers who dissect real-world exploits along with IoT hacking contests in which attendees compete.
All talks related to IoT security issues are welcome:
• SOHO/Enterprise IoT – How are IoT devices being infiltrated in the workplace, on the factory floor and in the cloud?
• IoT Devices – Demonstrate how insecure IP-enabled embedded systems are. Smart home devices, drones, smart cars, and office technology are all of interest.
• Vulnerabilities and Remediation – Show what exploits, or vulnerabilities were found in an IoT device and then how the security flaw can be fixed. Discuss how you discovered, disclosed and fixed the vulnerability.
• Healthcare & IoT – Discuss how IoT devices are impacting the realm of healthcare, including medical devices, patient health and hospital security.
• Travel, Hospitality, and IoT – Analyze how IoT is impacting the travel & hospitality industry, guest safety, and the connected hotel room.
